Film has the magical power to bring people together, to inspire, to educate, to help us explore our identities, and uncover new and forgotten stories.

For 30 years JCC Sonoma County has fostered a strong appreciation of Jewish and Israeli Cinema within the communities of our county. Continuing the tradition of superior cultural programs, the festival brings the newest and best of Jewish-themed and Israeli films that are rarely if ever featured on our local silver screens.

Critics are calling documentary SABBATH QUEEN one of the best films of the year. Filmed over 21 years, the film follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie’s epic journey as the dynastic heir of 38 generations of Orthodox rabbis, to a drag-queen rebel, queer bio-dad, and the founder of Lab/Shul — an everybody-friendly, God-optional, artist-driven, pop-up experimental Jewish congregation.

Sabbath Queen joins Amichai on a lifelong quest to creatively and radically reinvent religion and ritual, challenge patriarchy and supremacy, champion interfaith love, and stand up for peace.

2024 Film Fest

This year's film festival runs April through December, screening one film a month. Screenings take place on a Tuesday and run at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM that day.

April 9, May 21, June 18, July 16, August 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, Dec. 17.
